African American Summer Styles

With all our planning and busy preparation for Africa Fashion Week, this week it seemed a perfect opportunity to share with you guys some of the most desired summer hairstyles worn by African American celebs . During the weekend of August we are lucky enough to be taking part in Africa fashion Week and are very much looking forward to selling and sharing our top quality hair extensions as well as great tips and advice. Some of you may not have the chance to visit the popular exhibit but don’t worry as you can find everything you’re looking for right here!  If you’re keen to wear your hair like your favourite celebs then look no further!

Stars such as Rihanna and Halle Berry are famous for sporting sleek and sexy styles but are also popular for being adventurous. The short, sexy and sleek bob is a style probably most known to be worn by Rihanna and possibly her most stunning look. Not only stunning but quite an obvious trendsetter as this has proved a very popular look amongst African Americans and on Afro Caribbean hair. Bobs look best at a length that stops just by the chin or just below it. You’ll be pleased to know that bobs can be worn by just about anyone but if you have a rounder face, its best to go for a bob with a little more length. As Rihanna sports below, longer layers at the side of her face finishes the look perfectly.

Short hair is generally easier to manage but still spend time nurturing your style to create a glamorous look.  You could even think of adding a fringe or highlights which will look great on dark hair to create edginess. The most popular edgy look is a very short or shaved patch of hair on the side of the head which looks gorgeous with bobs as sported by the likes of Rihanna. Even young Willow Smith is keen to keep with the hottest trends. It really doesn't matter what age you are!

Ensure that your bob is sleek and shiny by applying sheen spray to finish. Although tempted to keep your hair in place, try to avoid lots of hairspray as this can make the hair very dry especially if it is of an Afro texture.  It is also important to keep the hair conditioned and moisturised so always make sure you use heat protecting serums as straighteners will often be used to maintain the sleekness but will also add to the shine.
However, if straight isn’t your thing, another recent bob hairstyle is the hot, messy, tousled look which has proved very popular throughout recent months. To create this look at home on a daily basis, I would suggest to first add curls to your hair either by tongs or rollers if you want a more natural and heat friendly approach. Then, (although  this sounds bizarre it’s great for messy curls), lean your head forward and blow dry the hair from behind to give heavy volume.  After, to complete the look, use sheen spray for shine but not too much hairspray to keep the curls bouncy.

We will keep our eyes peeled for some amazing African Americans styles during the fashion Week, but for now we hope that this week’s read is giving you plenty of thought about how to wear your hair. If you’ve fallen in love with one of these styles and try them out, let us know your thoughts or give us any tips on how you’ve made them even trendier! The more you share, the better you can wear!
